Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press is seeking a Vice President of Communications to lead strategy for external communications and elevate visibility of its mission. The role reports to the President and sits on the Executive Team, guiding a high-performing team in digital, media, and communications delivery.

The position requires extensive experience in strategic communications, strong leadership, and the ability to collaborate across departments to advance the organization’s advocacy

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in strategic communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related area.
• Demonstrated expertise in message development, audience segmentation and engagement; editorial and content planning.

Responsibilities

• Refine and implement a strategic communications plan aligned with organizational goals.
• Educate and collaborate across the organization to ensure consistent messaging.
• Advise on opportunities and strategy for fast breaking news related to the organization.
• Oversee external messaging and brand positioning with key audiences across channels.
• Lead and mentor Content, Digital, and Media teams; manage budgets and vendors.
