Democrats for Education Reform seeks a Vice President, Advocacy to lead the national state-based advocacy program, align with executive strategy, and drive policy from inception through implementation. You will partner with governors and senior teams, manage multiple state campaigns, and oversee lobbying efforts.

The role requires deep state policy expertise, strong relationships with governors’ offices, and the ability to coordinate across policy, communications, and campaigns.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus (not required with equivalent experience)
• 8-10+ years in state government, legislative affairs, campaigns, or political advocacy
• Experience with governor’s offices or state agencies preferred
• Established relationships with state legislators and governors’ offices a plus
• Experience directing lobbying efforts and managing external lobbyists or vendors
• Ability to collaborate across teams to align policy efforts

Aufgaben

• Stand up and oversee DFER’s new Advocacy function and align with executive engagement strategy
• Develop state-by-state advocacy plans in 5-7 states
• Partner with governors and senior staff to advance policy commitments
• Manage lobbying contracts and 4-6 active lobbying efforts
• Coordinate with coalitions and communications to build support for priorities
• Lead campaigns across executive orders, budgets, legislation, and regulations
• Set annual goals and OKRs for state policy wins and report progress
