Job summary

Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) is seeking a Senior Manager, State Policy & Implementation Strategy to lead our state policy agenda and translate policy into practice through playbooks, frameworks, and direct engagement. This role emphasizes policy design, engagement with governors and state leaders, and qualitative research to ground recommendations in practitioners' and families' perspectives.

The role reports to the Vice President, K-12 Policy and supports bold education reforms

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in education policy
• Experience translating policy into practical guidance for policymakers
• Experience with qualitative research methods
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Postgraduate degree in public policy or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Own and advance the organization’s state policy agenda.
• Develop playbooks, frameworks, and guidance for state policy.
• Conduct targeted qualitative research through interviews and focus groups.
• Engage governors and state leaders in advancing education reforms.
