Job summary

Citi, a global financial services company, is seeking a Vice President and Lead Python Architect to drive a central data processing platform and workflow framework. You will lead a team of Python engineers across geographies, delivering scalable microservices and data pipelines for multiple asset classes.

The role combines hands-on coding with architectural leadership, collaboration with business stakeholders, and governance of code and infrastructure to ensure high quality, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of hands-on technical leadership in real-time, distributed, high-volume processing.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale microservices using modern Python frameworks.
• 5+ years with messaging/event processing systems like Kafka or Tibco EMS in high-volume environments.
• Experience with Python data stack and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Celery).

Responsibilities

• Hands-on development and design guidance to junior developers.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and tech teams to drive execution.
• Lead culture of innovation and full software lifecycle.
• Manage a team and conduct personnel duties.
• Participate in brainstorming and ensure best practices.
• Provide strategic influence over resources, budget and planning.
• Validate detailed requirements and ensure platform meets specifications.
• Influence architecture and communicate with senior leaders.
• Provide thought leadership to grow and scale the platform.
• Ensure code quality and test coverage with tools (e.g., Sonar, Secure Assist).
• Governance using GIT/Bitbucket.
• Drive infrastructure assessment and setup.
