Job summary

BNY is seeking a Vice President, Product Designer to join the Design Accelerator in Pittsburgh. You will collaborate across product, engineering, research, and business teams to frame complex problems, map journeys, and shape design directions for digital platforms.

You will lead across the full design cycle, from discovery through prototyping and validation, driving outcomes that balance user needs with business goals.

Qualifications

• Experience designing digital products with complex workflows or interconnected systems.
• Curiosity about AI and ability to judge AI outputs responsibly.
• Strong interaction and visual design skills with appropriate level of detail.
• Ability to conduct discovery, synthesize findings, and translate into design direction.
• Experience creating end-to-end journey maps and translating them into practical opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Understand and frame problems through research, conversations, data, and observation to identify needs and opportunities.
• Map complex experiences by creating journey maps and workflows to show connections and breakpoints.
• Design and test solutions by translating insights into concepts, interactions, and interfaces for digital products; prototype as needed.
• Work through ambiguity by asking questions, identifying assumptions, and guiding what to explore next.
• Collaborate across product, engineering, research, business, and operations to balance user needs, business priorities, and technical realities.
• Communicate your thinking clearly to stakeholders, outlining problems, choices, and learnings.
• Contribute to lasting design quality by adopting shared patterns and leaving a path for teams to continue the work.
