Job summary

Oliver James is partnering with a leading global investment platform to fill a Vice President, Portfolio Solutions in Chicago. You will build customized multi-asset portfolios across private markets, perform strategic asset allocation, and analyze private market opportunities for institutional clients.

You will craft investment proposals, size opportunities across funds and co-investments, and communicate insights to clients and investment committees.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant investment experience.
• Private market investment experience is required.
• Experience across portfolio construction, asset allocation, portfolio solutions or a similar investment function.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating private market investments and contributing to investment decisions.
• Strong understanding of portfolio construction tradeoffs across different private market strategies and structures.
• Experience across areas such as private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure or other alternative investments.
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint and investment analytics skills; Bloomberg or FactSet experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present investment recommendations clearly and confidently.
• Bachelor's degree required; CFA, CAIA or graduate degree is a plus.
• Comfortable working across investment and client facing teams in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
• Moderate travel required.

Responsibilities

• Develop customized investment proposals and multi asset portfolio solutions based on client objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity needs and portfolio constraints.
• Conduct strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction analysis across private market asset classes.
• Evaluate private market investment opportunities, including underlying return drivers, cash flow characteristics, liquidity and diversification benefits.
• Contribute to investment selection and sizing across funds, direct investments and co investments.
• Monitor portfolio allocations, cash flows, performance and market developments.
• Develop portfolio analytics and materials for portfolio management, investment committee and client discussions.
• Participate in institutional client and prospect meetings, communicating investment views, portfolio recommendations and private market strategies.
• Provide clients with insight into asset allocation, portfolio construction, private market portfolio design, liquidity and diversification.
• Develop portfolio and investment updates covering performance, positioning, deployment, cash flows and market developments.
• Partner with investment, client service and marketing teams on portfolio reviews, presentations and investment materials.
• Maintain a strong understanding of macroeconomic, market and private market developments and their implications for portfolios.
