Job summary

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Global Investment Manager Analysis (GIMA) team seeks an experienced Operational Due Diligence Analyst to assess alternative investment funds and managers, including fund-of-funds, hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and related vehicles.

You will perform on-site or desk reviews, interact with service providers, document findings, and present risk assessments to internal committees while collaborating with various functional teams.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years of total work experience, with 7-10 years in operational due diligence across various types of alternative investment products and managers (alt funds, fund-of-funds, hedge funds, real estate funds, and/or private equity).
• Strong knowledge of operational due diligence and a desire to expand into other product areas within a growing team of experienced professionals.
• Experience performing due diligence on co-investments and direct investments is strongly desired, but not required.
• Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• CFA, CPA, and/or CAIA not required but viewed favorably.
• Active Series 7 and 63 or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operational assessments may involve onsite meetings with senior professionals or desk reviews of DDQs and manager documents, plus coordination with service providers such as administrators, valuation agents, and auditors.
• Focus areas include organizational structure, fund structure, internal operations & controls, valuation, service providers, legal & compliance, and IT/BCP.
• Identify key risks and document findings in a written report; propose solutions to deficiencies.
• Present findings to internal product approval committees as necessary.
• Collaborate with Investment Due Diligence, Product Management, Legal, Operations, Risk, Investor Relations, and Sales as needed.
