- Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and recently incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community.
- SUMMARY : The Vice President of Social Enterprises (SE) is responsible for implementing, managing, and evaluating the strategic and operating plans for Homeboy Industries’ social enterprises.
- This leader will ensure that each enterprise has the resources needed to meet its goals while stewarding resources effectively and aligning with the organization’s mission and values.
- The Vice President SE is a vital member of Homeboy’s executive leadership team and works closely with its Co-CEOs, CFO, and other senior leaders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Oversee and expand a diverse portfolio of social enterprises, including:
- Homeboy Bakery : The first of Homeboy Industries’ social enterprises, started as a training ground for aspiring bakers and now employs dozens of clients (trainees).
- Homegirl Café & Catering : A vibrant café and catering business offering healthy, locally sourced meals, providing training in culinary arts and restaurant service.
- Homeboy Electronics Recycling : A certified B Corporation offering comprehensive, secure electronics recycling and IT asset disposition services, creating employment opportunities in the green economy.
- Homeboy Silkscreen & Embroidery : Provides high-quality custom apparel printing and embroidery services, serving as a job training site for clients.
- Homeboy at MLK BHC : A seven-day-a-week operation to prepare and deliver meals for inpatient settings at the Martin Luther King Behavioral Health Center and LA County agency partners at residential treatment centers throughout the county.
- Homeboy Threads : A new social enterprise supporting major fashion brands and companies in meeting circularity goals, reducing environmental impacts, and improving community health. Lead growth strategies for revenue and workforce development, ensuring alignment with Homeboy Industries' mission.
Provide daily operational and strategic support to all social enterprises, ensuring consistency and collaboration.Provide strategic input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting businesses.Work with the CFO to oversee budgeting, financial management, and control of expenses for all social enterprises.Evaluate financial, operational, and sales structures for ongoing improvements and increased efficiencies.Develop and improve operational policies and procedures to enhance effectiveness.Mentor and support staff, emphasizing personal and professional development, leadership, and growth from within the community.Collaborate with human resources to enhance organizational structures and development plans.Guide the development of a unified food enterprise model under a single management structure, focusing on labor pooling, waste reduction, and market synergies.Work closely with senior leadership to integrate social enterprise strategies with organizational goals.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION :
- Ten years of leadership experience managing multi-site business operations with budgets over $15M. Proven track record of scaling revenues and net income in complex environments. Demonstrated success in building strong management teams.
- Exceptional communication and mentorship skills, with the ability to drive organizational change.
- Demonstrated commitment to social impact, restorative justice, and workforce development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and results-driven approach.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.

COMPENSATION :
- Salary range of $110,000 - $135,000 DOE, negotiable based on experience. Offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, and retirement plans, along with generous paid time off.
