Job summary

Gray Construction seeks a Vice President of Quality to lead its national quality program, overseeing QA/QC across active projects and driving continuous improvement. You will design robust QA processes, root cause analyses, and preventive actions with a focus on reducing rework and warranty exposure.

You will mentor top-quality professionals, drive cross-functional collaboration with design, procurement, and operations, and align field practices with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or technical/associate degree in a related field and 15 years of related construction experience.
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing quality teams and multi-project initiatives.
• Proven track record transforming a construction quality program at a comparably sized design-build firm or general contractor.
• Deep proficiency in quality processes, inspection techniques, and regulatory requirements, and demonstrated cross-functional partnering to resolve issues upstream.
• Familiarity with commissioning processes is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and executive presence.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and leads construction quality control and assurance across active projects nationally.
• Leads and mentors quality professionals embedded with project teams in the field.
• Designs and enforces QA processes and inspections across all phases of construction.
• Owns root cause analysis and drives corrective and preventive action.
• Reduces rework, warranty exposure, and quality-related business risk across the portfolio.
• Participates in constructability reviews and standards discussions with Gray teams, with authority to flag systemic issues.
• Establishes quality standards, governance, and escalation paths across units and projects.
• Maintains feedback loop tracking defects, RFIs, and warranty claims, updating upstream design or procurement decisions.
• Drives collaboration to prevent defects across design, procurement, and execution.
• Maintains construction-specific section of Gray's Quality Manual as an extension of the enterprise TQMS.
• Partners with Business Excellence to align field practices with ISO 9001 requirements and KPI frameworks.
• Provides guidance and mentorship to develop future leaders in quality management.
• Communicates lessons learned and quality trends to leadership and project teams.
• Works with Learning & Development to train on quality standards and compliance.
• Develops and improves inspection processes, root cause tracking, and KPIs to drive quality execution.
• Leads team producing project-specific quality plans during proposals for execution.
