Job summary

Humcap, Inc. is seeking an experienced Vice President of Purchasing to lead enterprise-wide procurement, sourcing, vendor management, and inventory planning.

This executive will partner with Operations, Finance, and Sales to drive cost optimization and ensure product availability across locations. The role requires a strategic leader with a track record of improving supplier performance and service levels while managing multi-location operations and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, finance, or related field.
• 10+ years in procurement or supply chain leadership with multi-location exposure.
• 5+ years leading purchasing teams and large vendor relationships.
• Strong financial acumen, budgeting, and cost-control experience.
• Proven ability to improve supplier performance and inventory turns.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
• Lead sourcing, procurement, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• Manage strategic relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and vendors.
• Drive inventory optimization balancing service levels, working capital, and profitability.
• Establish policies and controls to ensure compliance and consistency.
• Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and inventory investment.
• Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs related to quality, delivery, and cost.
• Lead and develop purchasing, procurement, and inventory teams.
• Oversee purchasing technology, reporting, and data analytics.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to match inventory with demand.

Our client in the manufacturing distribution industry is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Purchasing to lead enterprise-wide procurement, sourcing, vendor management, and inventory planning initiatives. This executive will be responsible for developing purchasing strategies that optimize cost, improve supplier performance, ensure product availability, and support the company's continued growth across multiple locations. The VP of Purchasing will serve as a key member of the leadership team, partnering closely with Operations, Finance, Branch Leadership, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to drive operational excellence while maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring inventory availability for customers.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Finance, or related field10+ years of progressive procurement, purchasing, or supply chain leadership experience5+ years leading high-performing purchasing or procurement teamsExperience managing large vendor relationships and negotiating significant supply agreementsStrong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, inventory investment, and cost control initiativesDemonstrated success improving purchasing performance, inventory turns, and supplier effectivenessExperience operating within multi-location distribution, wholesale, industrial, construction products, manufacturing, or building materials environmentsAdvanced analytical, negotiation, and leadership skillsStrong executive presence and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred

Experience within HVAC, plumbing, industrial distribution, construction products, building materials, electrical distribution, or related industriesMBA or advanced business degreeProfessional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or CPMExperience leading ERP optimization and purchasing system improvements
