Job summary

Center for Responsible Lending, located in Durham, NC, seeks a strategist to lead philanthropy and fundraising efforts driving over $3 million yearly for research and advocacy benefiting families. Reporting to the President, you’ll shape the philanthropic program and align funding with CRL’s priorities.

You will manage grants, major gifts, and endowment growth, mentor the Philanthropy Manager, and collaborate across CRL and Self-Help partners to achieve goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of fundraising experience with foundations, corporations, and/or major individual donors.
• Graduate degree preferred.
• Proven track record of meeting annual and multi-year revenue goals.
• Strategic positioning of philanthropic programs to achieve organizational goals.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills for staff development.
• Ability to build relationships with funders and key stakeholders.
• Comfortable reporting to executive leadership and Board.
• Experience with fundraising databases and systems.
• Understanding budgets and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Own CRL’s annual and multi-year fundraising goals across grants and individual giving.
• Lead meetings with funders and represent CRL at conferences and events.
• Grow the number of foundations and individual donors supporting CRL.
• Write or guide proposals, reports, and stewardship communications.
• Track solicitations, gifts, pledges, and income; report to leadership and Board.
• Lead and coach the Philanthropy Manager and CRL leaders.
