Job summary

Center for Responsible Lending in Durham, NC or Washington, DC is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to lead CRL’s annual and multi-year revenue goals across grants and major gifts. You will align fundraising with CRL’s research, policy, and advocacy priorities while expanding the donor base and deepening relationships with foundations, corporations, and individuals.

You’ll manage the philanthropy team, collaborate with colleagues across CRL and Self-Help, and report progress to the Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; graduate degree preferred; 5–7 years of fundraising experience with foundations, corporations, and major donors.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals; ability to position programs strategically.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills; ability to manage staff and work cross-functionally.
• Excellent written and oral communication, and relationship-building with funders.

Responsibilities

• Own CRL’s annual and multi-year revenue goals across grants and major giving.
• Position philanthropic programs to align with research, policy, and advocacy priorities.
• Manage fundraising calendar, staff roles, and donor cultivation with cross-functional teams.
• Identify new funders and grow the number of foundations and individual donors.
• Lead meetings with funders and represent CRL at events; engage Board and Advisory Board.
• Oversee proposals, reports, and stewardship communications; track gifts and income.
