Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking a VP of Operations with deep data center construction and operations experience to oversee project delivery and client relationships across multiple sites. You will lead project teams, shape strategy, and ensure on-time, on-budget results from preconstruction through commissioning.

This role requires 15-20+ years in data center projects, strong GC/owner/operator background, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• 15-20+ years’ experience in construction and operations.
• Experience with large data center builds from preconstruction to commissioning.
• Background with general contractor or owner/operator responsible for large-scale delivery.
• Strong leadership and client-management abilities.

VP of Operations – Data Center Construction

Location: Austin, Texas

About the Role

We are seeking a VP of Operations with strong data center construction and operations experience to oversee project delivery, lead client relationships, and support teams across multiple sites. The ideal candidate has previously worked for a General Contractor or owner/developer and has managed large, complex data center builds from preconstruction through commissioning. This role provides strategic direction, drives project performance, and ensures that all project teams deliver high-quality, on-time, and on-budget results.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for data center projects throughout the full lifecycle.
• Support and guide project managers, superintendents, and field teams to ensure consistency and quality across all scopes of work.
• Lead high-level coordination with design partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company processes..
• Identify and resolve escalated project issues while driving continuous improvement in execution.

Qualifications

• 15-20+ years’ experience in construction and operations, with a strong focus on mission-critical or data center projects.
• Experience working for a general contractor or owner/operator with responsibility for large-scale project delivery.
• Strong understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support multiple project teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-management abilities.

Preferred

• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous data center builds or large hyperscale programs.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or equivalent (asset, not required).
