Job Description
Meade Engineering is seeking a strategic and experienced
Vice President of Operations to lead our Project Management Office (PMO) and ensure operational excellence across every phase of our work. This critical leadership role oversees project managers, project coordinators, and senior leadership who are responsible for delivering complex engineering projects that serve mission-critical clients across the country.
You will be accountable for creating and maintaining the systems, tools, and leadership structure that support seamless project execution, proactive risk management, and high client satisfaction. Your focus will span portfolio oversight, resource planning, profitability monitoring, and process improvement-all while developing a high-performing team that operates with clarity, urgency, and accountability. Job Duties
- Lead and scale the PMO-Oversee a team of project managers, project coordinators, and project leadership.
- Drive operational rigor-Implement standardized delivery processes, reporting frameworks, and project lifecycle workflows that increase visibility and reduce delivery risk.
- Ensure project success-Monitor project health across scope, schedule, budget, and quality. Support issue escalation, change management, and client communication as needed.
- Enhance project profitability-Work closely with finance and executive leadership to forecast revenue, manage costs, and improve margin discipline across project portfolios.
- Own resource allocation and planning-Coordinate with discipline leads and teams to assign project staff, balance workloads, and align resources with strategic priorities.
- Mentor and develop talent-Support the growth and performance of project managers and coordinators through hands-on coaching, clear KPIs, and structured development planning.
- Advance systems and tools-Lead optimization of project management platforms to support efficient, transparent, and accountable execution.
- Collaborate cross-functionally-Partner with engineering, commissioning, client services, and business operations to ensure our delivery model aligns with firm goals and client expectations.
- Represent project leadership-Participate in key client meetings, proposal interviews, and executive reviews as a senior voice of operational leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; PMP certification or advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in engineering or construction operations, including 7+ years leading project teams or PMOs.
- Proven success managing multi-disciplinary teams, with direct oversight of senior-level project managers.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and profitability metrics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a track record of developing people and systems.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools.
Familiarity with engineering delivery models and project lifecycles in the AEC or MEP consulting space
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Teamwork or similar PM and resource management platforms.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM and resource pipeline management platforms.
- Exposure to Lean, Agile, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of MEP systems, construction sequencing, and coordination across design and field teams.
- Experience driving change management and adoption of new tools or workflows across a matrixed team.
