Since launching in 2020, Canopy has expanded its suite of innovative home products that support wellness routines for the whole family. Canopy has an office in NYC with distributed team members located around the US (California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Illinois) and Asia (Hong Kong & China)

OVERVIEW

Canopy is seeking a VP of Operations to own the end-to-end operational engine that gets our products procured, moved, stored and delivered across every channel. This is a senior leadership role for someone who has scaled operations inside a fast-growing consumer products business, shipped into mass retail, and knows how to build systems (and a team) that keep fulfillment, inventory, planning, and logistics running smoothly as we grow. You will report to the Company President and lead an operations team based in NYC and Hong Kong.

ABOUT CANOPY

Canopy is leading the way in reimagining home wellness with innovative products like humidifiers, showerheads, and diffusers. We believe your home environment is key to achieving beauty and wellness goals for the whole family. Our products are designed to make your space healthier and more enjoyable, without the hassle of traditional devices. Our mission is to provide dermatologist-recommended, easy-to-use products that support glowing skin, better sleep, and a healthier home.

Our focus is on developing standout ideas, sourcing the right materials, and defining the forms they can take. We draw on everyday observations, deep research, and an anthropological approach to product development. Our goal is to build products that are forward-thinking while respecting the past, distilling ideas to their essence while preserving what appeals to human sensibilities.

WHY WE’RE HIRING

The business has reached a critical scale where operations requires a seasoned owner to oversee all the moving parts in strategic & seamless way. We are selling direct-to-consumer, into B2B and wholesale accounts, into mass retail, and on Amazon, and each of those channels carries its own fulfillment, inventory, and planning demands. We manufacture internationally and move product across a bicoastal, multi-3PL network. We need a leader who can bring all of this under one roof, connect demand planning to procurement to production to delivery, and put the right people, processes, and technology in place so operations scales beyond any single person. Ideally this is someone who has done it before inside a growing consumer products company and is excited to build the version of it that fits Canopy

BASELINE REQUIREMENTS
  • 10+ years of operations experience in consumer products, with meaningful time leading fulfillment, inventory, supply chain, and logistics functions.
  • Direct experience shipping into retail, ideally mass retail (Target, Ulta, or similar), including routing guides, EDI, chargeback management, and the compliance rigor those accounts require.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory & fulfillment ops via multi-node 3PL storage and fulfillment network, balancing cost, speed, and service levels across partners and coasts.
  • Fluency across all sales channels: direct-to-consumer, B2B and wholesale, mass retail, and Amazon (including Retail EDI setup & oversight, FBA and Seller/Vendor Central dynamics).
  • Strong command of demand planning and procurement, translating forecasts across channels into purchase orders and inventory positions that avoid both stockouts and overstock.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating international production, from PO placement through ready date, with factories and partners overseas.
  • Deep logistics expertise spanning inbound and import logistics, customs and freight forwarding, and outbound freight and parcel.
  • Command of COGS and inventory-related financial reporting, partnering closely with Finance on landed cost, margin, and inventory accounting.
  • A modern, AI-native operating mindset: comfort standing up and running an ERP and planning tools, and using AI to stitch workflows together and remove manual work.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership, able to partner with Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and CX and keep everyone aligned as operations executes.
  • Willingness and ability to work across a distributed team based in NYC and Hong Kong, including overlap with Asia-based production and operations partners.
You should apply for this position if
  • You have scaled operations inside a consumer products, wellness, or e-commerce company and have shipped into mass retail accounts like Target or Ulta.
  • You have built or run a bicoastal, multi-3PL fulfillment and storage network and know how to get the most out of your partners.
  • You are energized by demand planning and procurement across multiple channels and enjoy getting the inventory position exactly right.
  • You have coordinated international manufacturing and understand the rhythm of PO placement through ready date.
  • You are comfortable owning logistics end to end, from import and customs through outbound freight and parcel.
  • You are excited by a modern, AI-native tech stack and see ERP, planning tools, and AI-stitched workflows as leverage, not overhead.
  • You lead well across functions and thrive as the person who keeps everyone aligned and the operation running smoothly.
Role and Responsibilities
  • OMNI-CHANNEL FULFILLMENT: Own fulfillment across all channels (direct-to-consumer, B2B, wholesale, and Amazon), ensuring accurate, on-time, cost-effective delivery and full compliance with retail routing and account requirements.
  • INVENTORY: Own inventory management end to end, including demand-based planning, item and SKU setup, and ongoing oversight of stock health and accuracy across locations.
  • COGS : Manage COGS and the financial reporting tied to inventory, partnering with Finance on landed cost, margin, inventory valuation, and reconciliation.
  • PLANNING: Lead demand planning and procurement across every channel, from DTC to Retail to Amazon, turning forecasts into purchase orders and inventory positions that protect service levels and cash.
  • PROCUREMENT: Coordinate with international production teams on the full manufacturing cycle, from PO placement through ready date, keeping timelines, quality, and communication on track.
  • LOGISTICS: Own all aspects of logistics, including inbound and import logistics, customs and freight forwarding, transportation, and outbound freight and parcel.
  • 3PL MANAGEMENT: oversee a bicoastal, multi-3PL storage and fulfillment network, managing partner performance, cost, and service across coasts.
  • OPS SYSTEMS: Build and operate a modern, AI-native operational tech stack, including ERP and planning tools, and use AI to stitch workflows together and eliminate manual, low-value work.
  • CROSS-FUNCTIONAL OVERSIGHT: Coordinate across all departments and stakeholders (Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and CX) so operations runs smoothly and supports company priorities.
  • TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Build, lead, and develop the operations team across NYC and Hong Kong, setting clear standards, KPIs, and accountability.
  • PROCESS AND PLAYBOOKS: Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and playbooks so operational knowledge scales beyond any single person.
  • STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP: Partner with leadership on operational strategy, capacity planning, and the systems and resourcing needed to support Canopy’s growth.
LOCATION and COMPENSATION

This role is based in New York City (hybrid, 3 days/week in our NYC office), with regular coordination across our NYC and Hong Kong operations teams. Reports to the Company President.

Target base salary range (with final offer dependent on experience, location, and qualifications):

  • Base Compensation: $150-250k
