We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Information Technology to lead and evolve our technology capabilities. Leveraging prior insurance industry experience, this executive role is responsible for defining and delivering a modern, scalable IT strategy that supports both our business objectives and those of our clients. As the senior IT leader interfacing directly with clients, you will build trusted executive-level relationships, identify growth opportunities, and help shape and negotiate technology engagements. You will ensure strong alignment between client expectations and delivery teams, driving consistent, high-quality outcomes.

You will lead the development and execution of a platform modernization strategy, guiding a geographically distributed team to deliver innovative, secure, and resilient solutions. You will lead major operational and technology transformation across the Life & Health business, with a specific focus on US long-term care and disability income insurance operations. This role will be accountable for shaping, mobilizing and delivering complex transition programs that modernize legacy technology, reduce operational risk, and improve delivery performance in collaboration with our Global Capability Center in Pune, India. This role requires strong expertise across cloud and on-premises infrastructure, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, DevSecOps practices, and modern technologies including .NET, SQL, and AI.

Operating within a highly regulated, multi-carrier environment, you will ensure that all technology solutions meet contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and service level commitments—while advancing scalability, operational efficiency, and long-term platform evolution.

Key Responsibilities
A. Platform & Application Leadership
  • Own the end-to-end technology strategy and roadmap for the insurance administration platform, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide executive oversight of application development using Microsoft .NET, SQL Server, and integrated third-party solutions.
  • Utilize knowledge of .NET, SQL, and AI to guide technology decisions, ensuring the right tools and processes are in place to support business needs
  • Establish and enforce development standards, architectural principles, and testing practices for a multi-tenant platform.
  • Ensure platform stability, scalability, and extensibility to support carrier growth and regulatory change.
B. Client Management
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage with and lead interactions with executive-level client stakeholders.
  • Oversee delivery of new carrier implementations, product expansions, and system conversions.
  • Orchestrate multiple IT projects and programs.
  • Apply disciplined SDLC and Agile methodologies balanced with regulatory controls.
  • Partner with carrier IT and operations teams to manage requirements, timelines, dependencies, and risks.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for major delivery or quality issues.
C. Production Support & Regulatory Operations
  • Oversee production support ensuring high availability and rapid issue resolution.
  • Implement strong incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Identify and address technical debt, establishing pragmatic roadmaps for platform stabilization, modernization, migration and decommissioning, balancing client commitments, operational continuity, cyber risk, cost, resilience and speed to value.
  • Ensure regulatory updates are delivered accurately and on schedule.
D. Infrastructure, Security & Compliance Oversight
  • Ensure the robustness and scalability of our cloud and on-premises infrastructure, balancing performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide cost-effective governance for infrastructure, cloud/on-prem environments, and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure alignment with cyber, data security, privacy, and carrier audit expectations.
  • Support carrier-driven audits, risk assessments, and due diligence activities.
E. Strategic Planning & Client Engagement
  • Propose, present and execute a comprehensive platform modernization strategy that aligns with business objectives and carrier retention goals.
  • Lead carrier governance meetings, roadmap reviews, and executive briefings.
  • Support sales and client teams with RFP responses and technology presentations.
F. People Leadership & Performance Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers, developers, analysts, and support staff.
  • Identify and remediate key-person dependencies.
  • Establish performance expectations, development plans, and succession strategies.
  • Build a high-performance culture that encourages initiative and innovation.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time remote position that will require occasional travel to our office in Springfield, MA.

Skills, knowledge & expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or related experience
  • 10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, preferably within the insurance industry
  • Experience operating across US and India teams, including distributed delivery, offshore transition, shared services or GCC operating models
  • Proven experience in platform conversions and platform modernization
  • Strong knowledge of .NET, SQL, on-prem and cloud infrastructure
  • Understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in the insurance sector
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of leading teams and driving successful initiatives
  • Excellent program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
