Oliver James is one of the largest insurance specific recruitment firms and proud to announce that we're partnering with a fast-scaling insurance company that's redefining the insurance industry. They're looking for a VP of Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis - a hands-on, strategic finance leader who thrives on turning data into direction and building the financial engine behind a high-growth business.
This role is more than reporting numbers. It's about influencing decisions, shaping performance, and building the infrastructure for scale. As the CFO's right hand, you'll have a seat at the table and a voice in the future of the organization.
Lead the charge on all things financial reporting - statutory, GAAP, capital modeling, tax, and regulatory filings.
Own the transformation of STAT to GAAP and ensure flawless execution across quarterly and annual reporting cycles.
Build and lead the financial planning process - budgets, forecasts, scenario modeling - and help align capital to strategy.
Turn complex data into smart insights that help drive growth, profitability, and executive decision-making.
Collaborate across actuarial, underwriting, and ops teams to model program-level performance and reinsurance impacts.
Upgrade reporting tools, streamline workflows, and make finance more agile, efficient, and tech-forward.
Mentor a smart, driven team and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
7+ years in financial reporting and planning at an insurance or reinsurance carrier, ideally in a leadership role.
Deep fluency in STAT and GAAP (bonus points if you speak fluent Schedule F and P).
Solid understanding of delegated underwriting authority, reinsurance structures, and capital strategy.
CPA or equivalent financial designation preferred.
Excel wizardry and strong command of reporting and planning systems.
A strategic mind with an operational edge - you think big and execute fast.
Strong communicator who knows how to influence stakeholders and lead with clarity.
This is a rare chance to help build the financial backbone of a company that's scaling fast and thinking big. If you're ready to lead, challenge the status quo, and leave your mark - we want to talk.
