About the job VP of Engineering ROR - Remote

About the company we are looking for: The company is a deep tech firm focused on building energy-efficient, fast Edge AI engines, particularly targeting the latest laptop chips with CPU, integrated GPU, and NPU.

About the Role

We need an experienced VP of Engineering to lead our tech teams. You'll need to take ownership of projects and work independently without much handholding. This role requires strong Ruby on Rails skills, knowledge of different programming languages, and experience with servers and DevOps.

What You'll Do

1. Take full responsibility for engineering projects and their quality
2. Create and execute technical plans aligned with business goals
3. Lead and grow the engineering team
4. Make technical decisions confidently on your own
5. Guide architecture choices for scalable, high-performing systems
6. Set up and improve engineering processes
7. Manage team resources and budgeting
8. Collaborate with product teams to deliver value
9. Identify ways to improve our technology
10. Utilize AI tools to enhance development speed and quality
11. Develop strategies to integrate AI into our development processes
12. Oversee infrastructure and DevOps activities

What You Need

• 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership
• Previous experience as a VP of Engineering, CTO, or similar role
• Strong object-oriented programming experience
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools
• Understanding of DevOps, cloud systems, and server management
• Track record of delivering complex projects
• Ability to work independently and make decisions
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

Nice to Have

• Masters in Computer Science, MBA, or related field
• Ruby on Rails development skills
• Experience in our industry
• Knowledge of microservices and containers
• Experience with generative AI tools and LLMs
• Success in integrating AI coding tools into workflows
• Experience with data engineering
