Dusty Robotics, headquartered in Mountain View, CA, seeks a VP of Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization across software, firmware, hardware, and cloud-based AI products. You will translate strategic plans into reliable execution, drive AI adoption, and deliver hardware systems that perform reliably on active job sites.
You will hire and grow engineering leaders, foster autonomy, and collaborate with Product, Operations, Manufacturing, and Customer Success to ensure
Dusty Robotics is transforming the construction industry through robotic automation. Our technology accelerates the digital transformation of construction by extending the digital world of architectural design into the manual world of field operations.
Dusty’s flagship product, the FieldPrint Platform, uses robots to trace digital building plans directly onto the jobsite floor at full scale, making construction more like paint-by-numbers. This allows builders to construct buildings faster, with higher quality, and with more predictable cost.
Our growing team, primarily based in the Bay Area, supports a fleet of robots deployed on construction sites across North America, and our customers include some of the largest general contractors in the world.
Dusty sits at the intersection of robotics, hardware, AI, and SaaS. Hardware is a core differentiator and strategic moat for the company, enabling us to create enduring value in an industry that has historically been difficult to digitize.
Dusty Robotics is seeking an exceptional Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale the engineering organization through the company’s next phase of growth.
This is a highly strategic and hands‑on engineering leadership role. The VP of Engineering will partner closely with the CTO, Director of Product, and executive team to translate Dusty’s product and technology strategy into reliable execution across a multidisciplinary engineering organization spanning robotics, software, firmware, electrical, mechanical, cloud, AI, and related technologies.
The VP of Engineering will build on the foundation of planning cadence, roadmap visibility, ownership, and delivery process, maintaining and sharpening what works, retiring what no longer fits, developing strong engineering leaders. They will ensure the organization continues to deliver high‑quality products with the speed, creativity, and technical rigor required in a growth‑stage robotics company, without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.
Success in this role requires both technical depth and exceptional organizational leadership. The ideal candidate can earn the trust of highly capable engineers, engage deeply enough in technical discussions to guide critical decisions, and create an environment where engineers have the context, autonomy, and accountability to do their best work.
Dusty is building a new generation of software products that help our customers manage their layout workflows. The VP of Engineering will be a central voice in the architecture of those systems. We are looking for a leader with software depth, who can shape architectural direction for cloud and AI‑enabled products.
We also expect this leader to be fluent in how AI is changing engineering itself. The VP of Engineering will drive the adoption of AI tools and practices across the engineering organization in how we design, write, review, and test code, in how we document and share knowledge, and in how hardware and software teams work day to day with clear judgment about where AI creates real leverage and where it does not.
Joining Dusty Robotics means becoming part of a team tackling one of the largest opportunities for automation in the world. Construction is a massive industry that has historically lagged in digital transformation, and Dusty is leading the change.
As VP of Engineering, you will have the opportunity to shape the technology, products, engineering organization, and technical culture behind a category‑defining robotics company. You will work alongside talented engineers and leaders to solve difficult technical problems and deliver products that have a tangible impact on how buildings are constructed.
We believe diverse teams build better companies. Dusty Robotics actively encourages applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, and immigrants.
