Job summary

University of Cincinnati Foundation is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Development to lead fundraising for the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and Clinical Programs. The role focuses on major gifts, donor engagement, and building a high-performing team.

The AVP will manage a portfolio of high-capacity prospects, collaborate with clinical leaders, and drive grateful patient philanthropy while advancing institutional priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including major gifts.
• Advanced degree preferred with 7–10 years of experience in academic health fundraising.
• Proven success coaching and mentoring fundraising teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of fundraising professionals for the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and Clinical Programs.
• Personally manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors ($100,000+).
• Collaborate with clinical leadership to align fundraising with institutional priorities.
• Provide strategic leadership for grateful patient and family philanthropy initiatives.
• Ensure compliance, privacy, and ethics in donor-centered philanthropy.
• Prepare timely reports and participate in the UC Foundation prospect and clearance process.
