Description

Vice President of Data Accountability and Compliance

Mission

The Vice President of Data Accountability and Compliance leads the development, implementation, and enforcement of data governance and compliance strategies across the organization, focusing on PEIMS and state compliance. The VP will ensure that data handling practices align with all applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies while promoting a culture of transparency and accountability in data management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This is a supervisory position.

Location

This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or those willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations

  • Travel to IDEA training events or other related activities may be required.

Essential Duties

Accountabilities

  • Ensure Data Governance and Compliance
  • Continuously improve data management practices, resulting in strong data governance and data health.
  • Achieve excellence in service models to deliver highly available infrastructure and network services.
  • Create organizational efficiencies and value streams through business process engineering and management.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with key departments (Legal, IT, Security, Risk, Operations) to develop and maintain data compliance best practices.
  • Manage internal and external audits of data handling to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Establish and enforce data governance standards across all reporting and data services functions.
  • Produce operations documentation, standards, and communication strategies.
  • Assess potential risks to data compliance and develop proactive mitigation strategies.

  • Make strategic decisions based on complex data analysis, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Manage work and teams, ensuring resource optimization and mentoring leadership.
  • Promote growth for self and others through development strategies.
  • Build a culture of trust and open communication within teams.
  • Communicate deliberately, facilitating effective team communication and feedback.

Additional Skills

  • Align data governance and compliance with organizational needs and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure adherence to data privacy laws such as CCPA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Leverage vendor partnerships for functionality, customization, and cost efficiencies.
  • Achieve quarterly data health targets, with continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and partners to enhance audit and quality tools.
  • Coordinate with Research & Analysis and Software Development teams to meet strategic data management needs.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Administration.
  • Intermediate to advanced mastery of Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Exceptional quantitative and technical skills.
  • 5+ years in data management, reporting, analytics, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Preferred Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • This is a sedentary role.

What We Offer
