Job summary

Citi in Jersey City, NJ seeks a VP Java Developer to own low-latency trading components within Equities Technology. You will design, implement, and optimize high-performance microservices for the electronic trading platform.

The role partners with quantitative researchers and product teams to deliver new capabilities, drive CI/CD, and ensure reliability, monitoring, and recovery across the stack. Strong Java expertise and knowledge of market protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software development in high-performance, low-latency systems.
• Expert-level Core Java with JVM internals, concurrency, and memory management.
• Experience designing automated trading systems or electronic execution platforms.
• Solid understanding of FIX and market data handling.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• CI/CD, modern testing frameworks, Agile methods.
• Strong communication and ability to work with product teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of high-performance low-latency microservices for electronic trading.
• Implement and enhance trading logic, performance optimizations, and system improvements.
• Lead technical design discussions and code reviews to uphold quality.
• Collaborate with product, quantitative researchers, and other tech teams.
• Drive testing tooling and deployment improvements for a low-latency environment.
• Maintain monitoring, trade reconciliation, and application recovery capabilities.
• Assess risk and ensure regulatory compliance and governance.
