Job summary

Citi is seeking an experienced software engineer to advance its Fixed Income Algo Technology platform in North America. You will develop low-latency trading engines and ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of core components, collaborating with traders and quants to deliver high-impact solutions.

You should bring 6–10 years of Java experience, knowledge of distributed systems, and a track record in performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of extensive low latency Java development experience in front office trading.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, design patterns and algorithms.
• Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, Solace) and modern pub/sub stacks.
• Hands-on coding in Core Java, performance tuning, and debugging in Linux.
• Familiarity with no-GC/lock-free techniques is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop reusable algo trading engines focused on low latency execution.
• Ensure reliability, scalability and performance of core algo components.
• Collaborate with trading teams to support live execution.
• Navigate large codebases, improve design and quality of trading strategies.
• Partner with business to extend technology stack beyond near-term goals.
