Banco Santander SA in Miami seeks a VP - Business Control Unit, Issues & Events to lead governance of critical risk events across CIB US. You will drive remediation, sponsor control enhancements, and deliver executive risk reporting.

With 9+ years in financial services risk and a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), you will collaborate with Compliance, Internal Audit, and Legal to ensure regulatory alignment. Base pay $130k–$180k with Santander benefits.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant experience in financial services, business controls, operational risk, audit, or compliance.
• Leadership of complex issues and remediation programs across multiple business lines.
• Ability to challenge senior stakeholders and drive decisions without direct authority.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory expectations.

Responsabilités

• Own and lead governance of business issues and operational risk events across CIB US.
• Collaborate with the Issues Management COE to enforce quality standards for issue statements and remediation plans.
• Provide credible challenge to business owners and escalate overdue or high-risk items.
• Ensure risk events are identified, documented, and escalated in designated systems.
• Collaborate with the Issues and Events COE to monitor portfolio risks and sponsor preventative controls.
• Produce executive MIS and committee reporting on status, trends, and decisions.
• Partner with Second Line of Defense, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and stakeholders on inquiries and remediation.
• Coach and guide team members and promote accountability and a strong risk culture.
