D.S. Brown is a leader in engineered products for the bridge and highway industry, headquartered in North Baltimore, OH, with about 200 employees.

Reporting Relationship: President Prospiant & Vice President D.S. Brown, dotted line to Gibraltar CHRO.

Position Location: Dayton, OH or Cincinnati, OH, hybrid work model with at least 3 days in office.

Travel: Every other week between headquarters, quarterly visits to Kingsville, ON, and semi-annual visits to Athens, TX, or as needed.

Position Overview

This VP of HR will be a strategic thinker with leadership skills and broad HR knowledge.

Responsibilities Include

1. Develop and implement workforce strategies aligned with business goals.
2. Support leaders in talent acquisition, performance management, training, and succession planning.
3. Coach for performance and contribute to organizational design, change management, and communication.
4. Partner with leadership using employee feedback to improve initiatives.
5. Manage a team of HR professionals across locations, develop skills, and ensure service quality.
6. Handle employee concerns, investigations, and disciplinary recommendations.
7. Ensure compliance with employment laws and design employment policies.
8. Analyze talent metrics and advise business leaders.
9. Participate in enterprise-wide HR initiatives and projects.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

1. 15+ years in HR Business Partner roles, with 5+ in the US industrial sector; manufacturing/construction experience preferred. US law proficiency required; Canadian law preferred.
2. 5+ years managing direct reports.
3. Experience managing payroll preferred.
4. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to prioritize and deliver results.
6. Bachelor’s in HR, Business, or related; Master’s preferred.
