Job summary

Trinity Metro is seeking a Vice President & General Counsel to lead the agency’s corporate legal strategy and tactical initiatives in Fort Worth, TX. The role reports to the President and CEO and oversees procurement, contracts, environmental compliance, litigation, and external counsel.

The executive will guide governance, risk management, and strategic partnerships while serving on the senior leadership team to advance transit-oriented development and innovative mobility initiatives.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.
• Five to seven years of experience in public law, contract law, corporate law or regulatory compliance.
• Experience as in-house counsel to a public transit agency, transportation authority, municipality or other governmental entity in Texas, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the senior-level advisor on legal matters to the President and CEO and senior staff.
• Develops creative legal strategies to enhance ROI and minimize risk.
• Structuring agreements for transit-oriented development, autonomous transportation, urban rail.
• Negotiates and structures ground leases, development and joint-use agreements.
• Drafts and reviews complex contracts and procurement documents.
• Provides counsel during disputes and analyzes liability and litigation exposure.
• Oversees external counsel including engagement terms, scope and budget.
• Directs response to claims, litigation, and public records requests.
