Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.
Future Back Ventures (FBV) is venture fund within Bain & Company that is focused on investing in early‑stage, promising startups founded or led by Bain alumni.
FBV was founded on the premise that our alumni found businesses at an exceptionally high rate, and these businesses outperform their venture cohorts in funding raised, graduation rates between rounds, and outcomes. Beyond alumni founded businesses, we believe there are additional promising collaborative deal categories that can be developed in future funds.
The significant majority of deals and capital deployed are in the seed and series‑A stage.
The fund invests alongside leading venture firms and helps portfolio companies access the best of Bain through strategic advisory support, talent, community, introductions, and practical operating resources. As a small, entrepreneurial team inside Bain, FBV combines rigorous investment judgment with hands‑on support for founders building the companies of the future.
Our first fund was launched in 2023, and a follow on fund was recently raised in 2026. To date, all funding has been provided through personal investment commitments by Bain partners and other senior leadership team members, and the firm itself. FBV has a near term strategy to significantly expand our committed capital and investment activities through the launch of a third follow on fund admitting external LPs. We anticipate a significant increase in AUM in the near term and over time, through addition of new LPs, increases in the number and size of funds and the potential creation of a family of funds.
The Managing Partner, Future Back Ventures serves as the strategic and investment leader of Future Back Ventures, Bain & Company’s strategic venture capital platform. This person is accountable for defining the fund’s long‑term investment strategy, governing capital deployment decisions, negotiating with potential targets on terms and investment access, coordinating diligence, leading decision discussions with IC, and coordinating support for portco’s to deliver maximum returns for our LP investors.
The Managing Partner is the senior‑most venture investing authority within the platform (i.e. the “Fund Managing Partner”) and also serves as a key advisor to Bain’s senior leadership and the FBV IC on venture strategy, capital allocation, alumni engagement through investing, and ecosystem partnerships.
The Managing Director of FBV leads development of the strategy for the fund portfolio, leads discussions with existing and potential LPs as part of fundraising and ongoing cultivation, architects and drives/supervises deal sourcing and evaluation, leads IC discussions and decisions working with the IC chair, develops communications for internal and external audiences, works with legal on risk and compliance assessments and decisions, participates in decision making on direction with IC and senior Bain execs (incl Chief Investment Officer, CFO, WWMD) and ensures alignment with Bain’s enterprise priorities.
This individual has end‑to‑end accountability for fund performance, portfolio construction, investment governance, and team development and leadership.
