The Vice President, Freight Audit provides strategic and operational leadership for Cass’s freight audit and systematic rating functions. This executive is accountable for world class audit quality, productivity, client satisfaction, and compliance—along with the accuracy, performance, and explainability of the rating engine. The VP accelerates modernization through hands‑on leadership of advanced technologies and automation capabilities, while strengthening data governance and controls across ingested invoices, shipment records, contracts, tariffs, and accessorial rules. As a core member of the TIS leadership team, this leader defines and executes the vision, operating model, technology roadmap, and talent strategy to evolve audit and rating at pace and scale.

Principal Responsibilities And Duties
  • Owns the end‑to‑end audit and rating operating model and delivers outcomes across modes and regions, including audit accuracy, recovery yield, first pass match rate, cycle time, and cost to serve.
  • Designs, implements, and governs a world‑class performance framework (KPIs/OKRs, control charts, dashboards) and drives continuous improvement, root‑cause elimination, and accountability.
  • Builds and executes the rating engine roadmap including contract and tariff ingestion, reference data management, accessorial logic, and rating rules, ensuring accuracy, performance, explainability, and auditability. Establishes standardized audit and rating playbooks and controls (e.g., audit tolerances, dispute workflows, contract versioning, approval gates).
  • Advances data governance for audit and rating reference data (contracts, tariffs, accessorial rules, carriers, lanes, master data); ensures data integrity, lineage, and authoritative sources.
  • Leads automation initiatives to scale productivity and improve audit precision.
  • Optimizes a blended delivery model (onshore/offshore/automation) and capacity planning to achieve scale, resiliency, and margin expansion.
  • Serves as executive sponsor and escalation point for complex exceptions and high‑impact client or carrier issues, ensuring timely, data‑backed resolution and clear communication.
  • Partners with sales and client relations in pursuits and renewals; clearly articulates Cass’s audit and rating differentiation, controls posture, SLAs/SLOs, and innovation agenda to executives and procurement.
  • Develops outcome‑based vendor/partner strategies (BPO, technology, AI) with rigorous SLAs/SLOs; manages budgets, investment governance, and ROI‑based business cases for investments.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.
Skills And Abilities Required
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence across the C‑suite, clients, and carriers; outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • Deep domain expertise in freight audit and rating across parcel, LTL/TL, air, ocean, and intermodal; knowledge of contracts, tariffs, and accessorial fees.
  • Demonstrated success leading large‑scale operations and technology transformations with disciplined program governance and change management.
  • Data‑driven decision maker with advanced analytics literacy; comfortable with KPI design, sampling strategies, anomaly detection, A/B tests, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Strong product/technology acumen; able to shape product backlogs and evaluate build/partner options.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across divisional disciplines.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Extensive experience with transportation expense management; proven expertise in contract/tariff transformation and governance, exception/dispute management, and client/carrier negotiations.
Minimum Level Of Preparation And Training Normally Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, supply chain, or equivalent experience required. Advance degree preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or transportation management, with significant exposure to international logistics.
  • 5–7 years of progressive leadership in high‑volume audit/rating or financial operations/logistics technology environments.
