Job summary

Sila Nanotechnologies is seeking a Vice President of Foundry Operations to build and lead our Battery Foundry Operations from pilot to full industrialization. Reporting to the COO, the role owns site selection, plant construction, equipment, vendor ecosystems, and scaling to GWh production.

The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in executive operations with a track record scaling battery manufacturing, plus strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of leadership in operational/manufacturing/engineering functions.
• At least 5+ years in a Director role or higher leading teams.
• Experience scaling hardware or battery cell production to giga scale.
• Hands-on battery manufacturing process experience across blocks (dry/clean room, electrode, assembly).
• Experience with large capital programs ($100M+ CapEx/OpEx) and international OEMs.
• Strong cross-functional and commercial acumen with product/R&D teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute Foundry Operations strategy from pilot to multi-GWh scale.
• Lead site evaluation, facility design, utilities, and construction for pilot and gigafactories.
• Direct equipment specification, line layouts, RFQ/tendering, vendor down selection, commissioning.
• Build and mentor an engineering/operations organization across multiple sites.
• Partner with Product and R&D to translate specifications into manufacturable processes.
• Align plant capacity and milestones with market demand and customer commitments.
• Present to executives and the Board on CapEx/OpEx, risk, and execution timing.
• Implement KPI-driven quality and continuous improvement systems.
