Job description

KLR Executive Search Group is proud to partner with Legacy Athletic Clubs to recruit its next Vice President, Finance & Accounting. Managed by The Pinebrook Group, Legacy operates a growing portfolio of full-service health, fitness, racquet, and wellness clubs. Recent acquisitions have doubled revenue to more than $40 million and membership to more than 20,000, and the company is now professionalizing its corporate office to support a long-term vision of 25 clubs and beyond.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and two Managing Partners, the Vice President will serve as Legacy’s senior day-to-day finance executive and successor to the retiring CFO’s operating responsibilities. The successful candidate will have executive sponsorship and a clear mandate to transform a functional but developing accounting operation into a disciplined, analytical, and scalable finance platform that serves as a true strategic partner to the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Finance Leadership and Transition: Partner with the retiring CFO to capture institutional knowledge and assume ownership of the finance calendar.
  • Accounting Operations and Controls: Lead multi-entity close, financial reporting, reconciliations, cash management, internal controls, payroll coordination, and payables.
  • Process Modernization: Modernize manual workflows, with an early focus on payroll, accounts payable, approvals, and electronic payments.
  • Planning, Reporting and Analysis: Deliver timely portfolio-level and club-level reporting, variance analysis, KPIs, and actionable insights.
  • Acquisitions and Integration: Support due diligence, underwriting, and EBITDA analysis, and build repeatable acquisition-integration playbooks.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Assess and strengthen the finance team, clarify roles and accountability, and build an improvement-oriented culture.
  • Technology and Systems: Optimize workflows and reporting across Sage Intacct, Club Automation, HubSpot, and UKG.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Senior finance leadership experience in a multi-entity or multi-location organization, such as VP of Finance, Corporate Controller, or divisional CFO.
  • Strong technical accounting and controllership foundation, with demonstrated success improving or scaling a finance function.
  • Experience with acquisitions, due diligence, or post-acquisition integration strongly preferred; Sage Intacct experience valued but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field expected; CPA or advanced degree valued but not required.
Location and Compensation:

This is a full-time, in-person leadership position with travel to club locations as needed. The anticipated base salary is approximately $160,000 or above, depending on experience, with potential for a performance-based incentive plan.
