Job description

the company is growing. We’ve surpassed $500M in ARR and we’re continuing to accelerate, earning a spot on the Forbes Cloud 100 for four years in a row and teaming up with iconic partners like Oracle Red Bull Racing.

About the company

At the company, we’re building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. We innovated the market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today. As one of the most loved brands in cybersecurity, we take a human-centric approach in everything from product strategy to user experience. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust the company to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work.

If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.

The Vice President of Platform Engineering reports to the CTO and leads the strategy, organization, and execution for the company’s core service and development platforms. The VP is accountable for building secure, reliable, and scalable foundations that enable teams across the company to deliver, operate, and own with autonomy, speed, and unambiguous accountability. The VP owns operations, drives delivery, and develops a high-performing team to achieve impactful results.

How we’re using AI today

Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 7 years in a leadership role, preferably with experience building and operating at the intersections of IaaS, SaaS, and the cybersecurity industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related fields; or proven equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record establishing durable, full-lifecycle ownership for critical platforms and services, including adoption, customer experience, reliability, security, cost, incident response, and continued evolution.
  • Proven ability delivering and operating cost-effective mission-critical infrastructure and platform systems serving internal- and consumer-facing software products, operational efficiency and market expansion.
  • Strong business and technical acumen in systems and software engineering, proven ability to lead an organization and culture delivering best practices and innovation.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to define, develop and execute strategic plans across a wide set of objectives, driving committed quantifiable results.
  • Extensive experience in building, maintaining, and influencing operational excellence, including process and system optimization, scalability, and the development and management of performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with C-suite leaders and cross-functional teams, aligning on strategic priorities to achieve shared objectives.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly, build trust, inspire broadly, gaining alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven expertise in leading and sustaining multi-year transformational initiatives in fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environments.
  • Proven experience building, developing and scaling high-performing teams.
What you can expect:
  • Leadership: Continuously evolve, develop and execute the Platform Engineering vision, strategy, objectives, and roadmaps, aligning and laddering it with the company strategy and customer needs. Proactively incorporate market and industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to identify opportunities, informing strategic decision‑making.
  • Transformation: Lead multi‑year changes to the company’s engineering architecture and operating model, building shared platforms, supported paths, and common practices that improve reliability, security, developer effectiveness, and the company’s ability to scale.
  • Company Initiatives: Lead technology‑adjacent strategic initiatives that facilitate delivering best‑in‑class engineering results, from inspiration and innovation, to implementation and iterative improvement.
  • Operations: Design and evolve the organization, ownership model, and operating mechanisms needed to execute the strategy. Establish clear accountability for the platforms and services the organization operates directly, while creating governed, supported paths that enable other teams to own and operate their products independently.

Establish the platforms, controls, and evidence needed for teams to adopt these practices while remaining accountable for their results.

Foster collaboration within and beyond the Technology organization to influence change. Apply critical feedback toward achieving strategic goals. Represent the technical organization in senior leadership meetings, providing updates on strategic initiatives, operational execution, and industry trends and their implications.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high‑performing team by mentoring and coaching direct reports, evaluating organizational talent, and implementing plans to prepare talent for future business demands.
  • Leadership Growth: Invest in the growth and development of the leaders within the technology organization across the company via direct mentorship, sponsorship, and participation at sibling organization events, as well as providing leadership alongside cross‑functional partner teams, such as Product, Security, People/Talent, Operations and L&D.
  • Culture and Org Health: Drive and evolve our high‑performance culture, fostering psychological safety, inclusivity, ownership, and agility. Champion initiatives to enhance the employee experience organizationally‑and company‑wide.
  • Financial Oversight: In partnership with Finance, own the organization’s investment and capacity strategy, balancing current operations, future‑state transformation, and targeted growth. Ensure resources are allocated against the highest‑value outcomes and adjust plans when evidence or business priorities change.
