Opportunity to scale our users from 5M to 50M in the next few years
Lead a team of ~60 talented full stack software engineers
Work with peers from Nvidia, Amazon, Microsoft, Andreessen Horowitz, SoFi, etc.
About the opportunity:
We seek a VP, Engineering to join our executive team! Having achieved profitability in early 2024, our goal is to scale from 5M to 50M customers and become a $10B business. We prioritize hiring high-caliber talent who can hire, develop, and lead our engineering team thoughtfully. Our focus is on building a small, high-performing team that remains agile and innovative.
At Jerry, we are building the first AllCar super app to make car ownership affordable and accessible. Since 2019, we've launched various features including insurance, driving insights, diagnostics, repair marketplace, GPT-4 chatbot, and telematics-based insurance marketplace. We aim to be the connected ecosystem for car owners, and we need a VP of Engineering to lead our software development. Reporting to our CTO, you will manage and scale our engineering team, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality execution. How you will make an impact:
Lead our engineering org (~50 engineers), supervising managers and tech leads, ensuring high-quality and fast execution.
Hire top engineers, develop talent, and establish evaluation frameworks for performance.
Set ambitious goals, promote continuous learning, and unblock teams when needed.
Optimize processes for maximum output and anticipate growth challenges.
Foster a collaborative, ambitious, and outcome-driven culture.
Collaborate with product, design, data science, marketing, and operations teams.
Ideal profile:
Masters or PhD in relevant fields
15+ years engineering experience with increasing responsibilities, including experience as an IC in complex environments.
Built and led high-performing engineering teams at early-to-mid stage startups, managing 50+ engineers.
Strong technical mastery with a curiosity to learn and improve.
Sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability.
