Job summary

Cequel III in St. Louis, MO, seeks a Vice President, Direct Investments to work directly with the CEO/CIO on its lower middle market private equity strategy, with exposure to real estate and venture activity.

This is a builder's-seat role: the VP will own deal origination, underwriting, and transaction execution, take a board seat on acquisitions, and help shape exit theses and value-creation plans across the portfolio. Cequel III commits permanent family capital with $15-25M equity checks.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of lower middle market private equity experience.
• End-to-end deal ownership from sourcing through close.
• Strong modeling and structuring fluency.
• Board or portfolio oversight experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own deal origination through intermediaries and networks.
• Lead underwriting and diligence coordination for investment committee.
• Negotiate LOI and purchase agreements; arrange financing.
• Post-close board cadence and value-creation follow-through.
• Contribute to exit thesis and lead sale processes when appropriate.
