Job summary

BNY seeks a Vice President, Database Engineer to join the Fund Accounting and Admin team in Pittsburgh, PA. You will drive database performance, integration with apps, and automation, shaping data models and governance across environments.

The role requires Oracle expertise, PL/SQL, and 5+ years in data engineering with production-grade delivery. Strong Unix, Python, and RESTful service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 5+ years of Oracle experience with Snowflake exposure.
• Proficient in PL/SQL and advanced SQL.
• Strong data engineering with production-grade delivery.
• Experience with AI Agentic Workflows & Automation.
• Hands-on with Unix, PL/SQL, and Python.
• Experience in Unix/Linux batch pipelines.
• Write complex, performance-tuned SQL.
• ETL experience, data quality and reconciliation.
• SDLC/DevOps experience incl. CI/CD, Git.
• RESTful services; Kafka; caching helpful.

Responsibilities

• Ensure optimal database performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate DB solutions.
• Lead database automation and process improvements.
• Translate requirements into scalable data models.
• Create and maintain ERDs and mapping specs.
• Develop and optimize DB objects and indexing.
• Apply SQL tuning and partitioning for performance.
• Implement data validation, reconciliation, and error handling.
• Enforce data definitions across environments.
• Monitor loads, troubleshoot failures, and resolve defects.
