Base pay range

$175,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr

As the VP, Construction Management, you will lead and scale all construction and project management initiatives for a growing single-family rental (SFR) portfolio. This role will oversee value-add renovations and large-scale capital improvements, and will be a strategic partner in market expansion and portfolio performance. The VP, Construction Management is responsible for setting construction standards, managing field execution and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards that support long-term rental performance. Ideal candidates will be strategic thinkers, operational leaders and possess a deep knowledge of residential construction best practices and SFR asset management.

This is a remote role, for candidates in EST/CST. At this time, West Coast candidates are not being considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall construction and project management playbooks and scopes of work for a national SFR portfolio.
  • Identify and implement best practices for cost control, value engineering and time management.
  • Enforce strict quality control standards aligned with long-term rental performance and maintenance efficiency.
  • Standardize workflows and partner with internal product and technology teams to develop solutions to enhance project tracking, reporting and communication.
  • Build and lead a high-performing construction team, including project managers and third-party vendors across multiple markets.
  • Develop and maintain a vast network of reliable contractors, subcontractors, HVAC technicians and other industry vendors.
  • Create and implement contractor performance evaluation and accountability systems.
  • Oversee all project lifecycles from pre-construction through close-out, ensuring quality control, safety and milestone initiatives are implemented and achieved.
  • Establish project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and performance metrics.
  • Provide accurate and data-driven reporting on project status/performance, milestones, risks and variances to the executive team.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and leadership, collaborating with various internal partners to align construction operations with overall business objectives, including MSA expansion and property acquisitions.
  • Build and manage construction budgets, cash flows, and cost forecasting.
  • Support company growth by contributing to market expansion plans and acquisition strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 7 years managing SFR projects at scale.
  • Proven success overseeing nation-wide teams and multiple simultaneous projects in geographically diverse markets.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
