Job summary

LPL Financial is seeking a VP Cloud Delivery Architect to lead AWS infrastructure design within Infrastructure Solutions Architecture. The role emphasizes building reliable, scalable, and secure cloud services, guiding teams through requirements, changes, and release processes in a fast-paced environment.

You will own cloud reference architectures, collaborate with customers and project teams, and mentor engineers on best practices for Lambda, RDS, Step Functions, and related services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cloud architecture design.
• 7+ years as AWS SME deploying applications.
• 7+ years creating architecture diagrams and documentation.
• 7+ years developing build specs with Excel.
• 7+ years designing with AWS services (EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, ELB, RDS, Kafka, SQS, Redis/ElastiCache, Redshift, API Gateway).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and project teams to understand business requirements and capture the technical requirements necessary to produce an infrastructure design.
• Perform systems analysis and evaluations on existing application infrastructure to gain knowledge of the technologies and capabilities of the platform.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert in AWS security, identity and access management, users, roles, policies, and permissions.
• Provide architectural and engineering guidance for AWS services, focusing on Lambda, Glue, RDS, Step Functions, etc.
• Define and develop new cloud reference architectures.
• Participate in application roadmap planning with stakeholders, application teams, and engineering groups.
• Contribute to policies, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with project team members as part of an agile team.
• Use Jira consistently to track work and provide project status updates.
• Provide guidance and consultation on infrastructure deployments.
• Perform capacity workload modeling and availability analysis for various platforms and environments.
• Recommend changes/enhancements to improve system availability, reliability, and performance.
• Promote and recommend opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
• Participate in the creation and maintenance of delivery metrics.
• Execute multiple efforts in parallel and proactively drive projects forward.

Job Overview

Seeking a VP Cloud Delivery Architect for LPL’s Infrastructure Solutions Architecture / Engineering organization. The Cloud Delivery Architect will possess technical expertise and engineering skills in AWS, allowing them to be a subject‑matter expert and lead for designing reliable, scalable, and secure AWS technical infrastructure solutions. The candidate must work in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment, identify requirements, facilitate implementation, and follow appropriate change control and release processes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture design.
• 7+ years hands‑on experience as an AWS subject‑matter expert deploying applications.
• 7+ years of experience developing architecture diagrams and documentation.
• 7+ years of experience developing and documenting build specifications using Excel.
• 7+ years of designing and developing with common AWS services such as EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, ELB, any RDS, Streaming (Kafka), Messaging (SQS, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ), Caching (Redis, Ignite, Redshift, Elasticache), NoSQL, and API Gateway.

Core Competencies

• Hands‑on Infrastructure as Code deployments using Terraform.
• Experience utilizing AWS AMIs with Amazon Linux and Windows Server.
• Experience connecting on‑premises Active Directory with AWS services.
• Experience with AWS network protocols and diagnosing connection‑related issues.
• Firewalls rule management, port translation, quality of service, and network protocol routing.

Preferences

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Certifications are a plus (AWS Solutions Architect).
• Network security best practices and implementation across diverse technologies and hardware infrastructure.
• SSL certificate requests, installation, and PKI management.
• Technical project management experience.

Pay Range: $155,942.00 – $259,869.00. Actual base salary varies based on relevant skill, prior experience, education, internal peer comparability, performance, and geographic location.
