About the Role

The VP, Client Manager owns all aspects of client retention for an assigned group of borrowers. Responsibilities include leveraging bank services to deepen relationships, monitoring borrower performance, and coordinating with colleagues to manage relationships with Venture Capital sponsors and borrowers. The role requires independent work with limited supervision, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage all aspects of borrower relationships within the portfolio, ensuring client retention and satisfaction.
  2. Address underperforming borrowers with minimal losses.
  3. Collaborate with Originations to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients.
  4. Monitor client operations and funding capacity, maintaining communication with venture capital sponsors.
  5. Ensure accurate risk grading of credits.
  6. Verify collateral and conduct borrower due diligence regularly.
  7. Perform financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities for value addition.
  8. Lead underwriting, approval, negotiation, and closing of funding requests or modifications.
  9. Prepare reports on portfolio performance for management.
  10. Communicate proactively with clients and supervisors to resolve potential issues.
  11. Mentor junior team members and participate in hiring and performance evaluations.
  12. Support a diverse and inclusive work environment, adhering to all safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of lending/credit experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and entrepreneurial skills.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for client visits and meetings.
