Job description

Chief Information Security Officer - Houston, TX

This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer and has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Executive Vice President, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer (CCRO). The role involves ensuring conflicts between the interests of the CCISO and CIO are managed appropriately. The position reports regularly to Harris Health's CEO and Board of Trustees on Information Security matters, including training and breaches.

The executive-level role involves developing and enforcing policies and strategies to safeguard against cyber threats and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA / HITECH. The CISO oversees the planning and execution of enterprise security systems, managing analysts, engineers, and architects. As a business enabler, the CISO ensures security policies support business decisions without hindering operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science, Information Security, or related fields.
• Relevant licenses; highly preferred CISSP; required CISM or CCISO.
• At least 15 years of experience in Cyber / Information Security, designing and implementing security solutions.
• Minimum 10 years in progressive management roles related to HIPAA Security, Cyber / Information Privacy laws, and industry standards. Healthcare or Federal government cybersecurity experience is a plus.

Additional Skills and Qualities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including reports and correspondence.
• Executive presence, disaster recovery, backup strategies, cybersecurity expertise, ownership and accountability, planning, organization, critical thinking.

Work schedule requires Texas residency, with a hybrid model necessitating frequent onsite presence.

Other Requirements

• Expert knowledge of Cyber / Information Security technologies and best practices across infrastructure, network, servers, workstations, and security hardware/software.
• Strong understanding of security design principles and how cybersecurity integrates with overall business operations.
