Job summary

HARMAN is seeking a VP, AGC - Automotive to lead the global automotive legal function from Novi, MI. You will guide commercial matters, risk management, regulatory compliance and cross‑functional initiatives, shaping legal strategy across the business.

The role requires 15+ years of post‑admission experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders while leveraging technology and AI to enhance legal delivery.

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent qualification and active license to practice law in relevant jurisdictions.
• At least 15 years of post-admission experience advising a complex global business.
• Strong commercial negotiation, drafting and dispute-management skills.
• Experience with automotive or technology risks, including product safety, ADAS, cybersecurity, privacy, trade and regulatory compliance.
• Proven leadership, sound judgment and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and experience using technology and AI to improve legal delivery.

What You’ll Be Part Of

Reporting to the SVP, Legal & Compliance, the VP, AGC - Automotive is the lead legal advisor to HARMAN’s global Automotive Division, providing practical counsel on commercial, product, regulatory, dispute and enterprise-risk matters. The Automotive VP-AGC serves on the Legal & Compliance Leadership Team, leads a global legal team of 14 and partners across the business.

What Makes You A Strong Fit

• JD or equivalent qualification and an active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
• At least 15 years of post-admission experience advising a complex global business.
• Strong commercial negotiation, drafting and dispute-management skills.
• Experience with automotive or technology risks, including product safety, ADAS, cybersecurity, privacy, trade and regulatory compliance.

• Experience with regulators and multinational or Asian-headquartered organizations.

Things To Know

• This role is based in Novi, Michigan and follows a hybrid schedule, with regular in-office collaboration alongside engineering, product, and customer program teams.
• This position supports global product launch timelines, so occasional early morning or evening meetings may be needed to collaborate with teams in Europe and Asia.
• This role requires occasional domestic and international travel to customer sites, manufacturing locations, or product launch meetings.
• Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment (post-offer).

$ 240,000 - $ 352,000
