Job summary

Gradel Pro Search client, a fast-growing aerospace and defense manufacturer, seeks a Senior Controller / VP of Accounting to own consolidated GAAP accounting across multiple entities and bring deep government accounting expertise to a multi-entity organization.

This is a strategic, build-it-out role to shape the accounting function, not merely maintain it. Lead a centralized accounting team and collaborate with FP&A and pricing to scale finance operations as acquisitions expand.

Qualifications

• 15 years of aerospace and defense accounting experience.
• 5 years leading complex accounting teams.
• Deep, hands-on experience with FAR, CAS, and earned value management.
• Experience with multi-entity, multi-ERP consolidation, ideally within a company that has grown through acquisition.
• Proven track record of building and scaling accounting processes and teams.

Responsibilities

• Own consolidated GAAP financial reporting across multiple ERP systems, with more entities added as the company grows.
• Apply deep expertise in government cost accounting, including FAR, CAS, and earned value management.
• Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow, along with the monthly banking package.
• Manage general ledger reconciliations and trial balance roll-ups across business units.
• Lead a centralized, shared-services accounting team covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and labor accounting.
• Partner with FP&A and pricing leadership to support broader finance operations.
• Help design and scale the accounting organization’s structure as the company grows.
• Build and mentor a growing accounting team, including senior accountants and a fixed-asset accountant.
