Job summary

The Outreach Team in Flint, MI is hiring immediately for canvass roles to register voters and promote progressive values. You will engage the public, convey a campaign message, and guide residents through the voter registration process in busy outdoor settings.

Positions run through mid September with shifts from 10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday; both full-time and part-time options are available.

Qualifications

• Prior voter registration experience is strongly preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
• Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete and valid voter registration forms.
• Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
• Strictly follow all local, state, and federal laws around voter registration.
• Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them throughout the day and debriefing at day end.
• Ensure each canvasser has all materials needed to be safe and successful.
• Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.

Full-time & Part-time

Voter registration is a crucial first step in increasing voter turnout and allowing voters to impact critical elections. We will be registering new voters who agree with our progressive values, and want to see Trump removed from office. We’ll stop people in heavily trafficked areas and walk them through the process to register to vote. By engaging community members and motivating new voters, we are working to ensure that the electorate accurately reflects the diversity and interests of all!

Get paid well!

Canvass positions start at $25/hour. Leadership positions start at $27/hour. We offer a $1/hr bonus to staff who are bilingual in English and Spanish. We also offer overtime, and many bonus opportunities. Total weekly earning potential is $1500+ when you meet all requirements for bonuses.

• Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work

• Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
• Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
• Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
• Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
• Prior voter registration experience is strongly preferred, but not required
