Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an assistant coach in Versailles, Indiana to carry out the aims of the school sport program under the Head Coach. You will instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategy and conditioning, while maintaining discipline and supporting staff and families.

Key duties include assisting in scheduling, ensuring eligibility, and coordinating equipment and transportation for sports events, with emphasis on safety and compliance with athletic policies.

Qualifications

• Has provisional or standard teaching certificate or has completed sixty-four semester hours (documented).
• Must be twenty-one years of age or older.
• Knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
• Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport is preferred.
• Must pass health examination.
• Must not have immoral or criminal history.
• Ability to work with school staff, administration, community, parents and students.

Responsibilities

• Has thorough knowledge of Athletic Policy approved by the Woodford County Board of Education.
• Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers requests through proper channels.
• Maintains discipline and works to increase morals and cooperation in the sports program.
• Assists Head Coach in scheduling and transportation for tournaments and events.
• Assists in preparation for practices and facility scheduling.
• Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
• Directs athletes and student managers; oversees discipline procedures when needed.
• Supports planning for in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs.
