Job summary

Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care is seeking a Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator to lead the volunteer services program in our Massachusetts facility. You will partner with clinical teams to recruit, train, and support volunteers who assist patients and families, and you’ll help plan outreach events and education initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration, compliance with regulations, and ongoing program development to enhance community engagement and patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years recruiting, supervising, training, and recognizing volunteers.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a health care setting; hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
• Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from at least two recruitment/training sessions per year.
• Assist in training volunteers for assignments to various departments in the agency.
• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Ensure volunteers comply with annual safety, training, and administrative requirements.
• Maintain monthly statistics and program records per standards.
• Coordinate support and education, meetings, and events for the volunteer team.
• Orient new employees and others to the PVHPC volunteer program.
• Establish plans for patients and families referred for volunteer services with the IDT.
• Attend and participate in IDT meetings.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
