Job description

Our Purpose

Hi, we're the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Yes, we’re a foodbank and collect and distribute an impressive amount of food, but that’s not all. We’re also a group of passionate individuals dedicated to exploring new ideas to tackle tough social issues from food insecurity to poverty to health as a whole. So when life happens, we're here for our neighbors that need us.

What You’ll Coordinate

The Volunteer Services Coordinator ensures a smooth, welcoming volunteer experience by coordinating individual and group engagement from first contact through participation. This role supports day-to-day volunteer services operations, strengthens ongoing relationships, and helps ensure volunteer efforts align with operational needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to volunteer and group inquiries across phone, email, text, and other channels
  • Scheduling and supporting group participation, including rosters, reservations, follow-up, and documentation
  • Partnering with departmental volunteer liaisons to address scheduling changes and participation questions
  • Serving as a superuser in the volunteer management system (events, user groups, imports, registrations, troubleshooting)
  • Supporting recognition activities, orientations/tours, outreach, and recruitment efforts

Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2+ years in volunteer engagement, customer service, community/nonprofit coordination, hospitality, or similar
  • Strong communication, organization, judgment, data accuracy, and comfort with MS Office and databases
A Typical Workday

You’ll start by reviewing new volunteer requests and messages, then move through confirmations and calendar updates so groups arrive prepared. Throughout the day, you’ll shift between quick problem-solving and steady follow-up—helping a first-time volunteer navigate registration, adjusting plans when a group’s headcount changes, and keeping records current. You’ll coordinate closely with internal partners to keep communication clear, then step into occasional tours, orientations, or community tabling where you represent Volunteer Services with confidence and warmth. As priorities change, you’ll stay organized and responsive, ensuring volunteers feel informed and valued from arrival to wrap-up.
