Job summary

Great Lakes Aquarium is seeking a Community Inclusion Coordinator to lead the volunteer program, recruit and train volunteers, and ensure inclusive guest experiences. The role collaborates with staff across departments to match volunteer capacity with exhibit needs and outreach events.

Responsibilities include scheduling, data management, and developing new volunteer stations, while promoting a welcoming environment and coordinating accommodations when required.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating volunteers in a nonprofit or educational setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively in noisy environments.
• Comfortable presenting information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and develop the volunteer program, recruit and train volunteers.
• Maintain volunteer records and schedules for 250+ volunteers.
• Collaborate with departments to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
• Plan recognition events and manage volunteer communications.
• Support inclusion accommodations and ASL/interpreter services as needed.
• Attend departmental meetings and develop program improvements.
