About Rare Genomics Institute (RGI)

We facilitate genomic sequencing, coordinate with clinicians, and support advocacy and research through grants and community building. Role Overview

The Patient Advocate Associate (PAA) works with the Patient Advocacy Team (PAT) to assist families in navigating genetic sequencing and research services. This virtual role involves helping families through email and phone communication, ensuring timely responses, and maintaining accurate records. It offers flexibility, requiring about 5 hours weekly.

Responsibilities
  1. Respond to all incoming patient applications during your "on call" week.
  2. Explain RG's services to families via informational calls.
  3. Coordinate with PAT to determine appropriate services for each family.
  4. Keep patient information updated in your dashboard.
  5. BCC the PAT team on all email communications with families and colleagues.
  6. Respond promptly to emails, ideally within 3 days.
  7. Show understanding and patience during family calls, adapting to each family's needs.
  8. Keep families and PAT informed throughout the process.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or expected graduation in a science or health-related field.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Interest or experience in medical, research, or nonprofit sectors.
