Job summary

Bikes for the World, based in Rockville, Maryland, seeks a passionate Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator to grow our volunteer network, deepen community connections, and communicate our life-changing work to new audiences. This is a hands-on, full-time role with a strong emphasis on engagement and community impact.

You will schedule volunteers at our Rockville warehouse, coordinate bike donation events in the DC region, and manage communications for the organization.

Qualifications

• Aptitude for creative problem solving.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with other staff, donation sites, and Bikes for the World volunteers.
• Understanding of the organization’s overall needs and ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to meet those goals.
• Ability to multi-task and share responsibilities across a small team.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate volunteer groups from schools, summer camps, corporate and civic groups.
• Coordinate bike donation events in the Washington, DC region and at the Rockville warehouse.
• Manage communications for the organization, including newsletters and online content.
• Oversee office tasks such as calendars, emails, and basic bookkeeping support with the Executive Director.
• Lead and support volunteer sessions, including on-site work tasks and safety considerations.
