The Volunteer Manager oversees the strategic direction and daily operations of Maricopa County Animal Care & Control's volunteer program. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for building the volunteer workforce through recruitment, engagement, development, and retention while fostering a positive volunteer experience. We will look to you to drive positive change by leading volunteers and Volunteer Coordinators, removing barriers, and ensuring best practices are in place. You will collaborate with teams across all shelters to ensure consistency and to achieve the optimal outcome for each animal with the available resources. This position requires the employee to be in the office and or customer-facing for all hours worked.

As one of the nation's largest open-admission shelters, we work with our community to serve the animals and people of Maricopa County. Our adoptions, shelters, clinics, and animal services officer teams learn first-hand about proper care for homeless and stray animals and work hard to help find them new homes.
Work is typically performed in an office or administrative environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. The employee in this position may be required to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly. The position requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
