A leading nonprofit organization in Albemarle is seeking a part-time Volunteer Manager to oversee its volunteer program. The role involves recruiting, training, and managing volunteers while collaborating with team members on various projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills and previous volunteer management experience.
Organization Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle
Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle has been providing hot, nutritious meals and essential wellness checks to vulnerable individuals in our community since 1977. With the help of 35-40 volunteers each day, we serve approximately 275 clients throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County, offering tailored meals that meet each recipient’s unique dietary needs. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and we deliver on all holidays that fall on weekdays.
We’re seeking a dedicated Volunteer Manager to oversee our volunteer program. This part-time position (20 hours per week) will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing our volunteer workforce. This includes creating meaningful engagement opportunities through group volunteer projects and the monthly volunteer newsletter, as well as coordinating our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required for volunteer recruitment events.
-Develop and implement strategies to recruit, train, and retain volunteers
-Facilitate meaningful volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups
-Coordinate volunteer projects and administrative volunteer activities
-Track volunteer hours and maintain the volunteer database
-Collaborate with the Client Manager on volunteer tasks related to client services
-Plan and execute the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
-Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer inquiries and needs
-Strong organizational and relationship-building skills
-Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills
-Ability to work as part of a small team
-Demonstrated ability to multitask, plan, and meet deadlines
-Experience working with diverse groups of people
-Self-motivated with the ability to work in a flexible environment
-Command knowledge of Google Suite and MailChimp
-Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle problems quickly as they arise
-Previous volunteer experience (as a manager, coordinator, or regular volunteer) preferred
-Recruiting and/or training experience preferred
This is an in-person position at our Charlottesville office. Office hours are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with occasional weekend or evening hours for volunteer recruitment and fundraising events.
