Join a dedicated team as a Companion Volunteer, where your role is to bring joy and companionship to residents in long-term care communities. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of those battling loneliness. You'll engage in creative activities tailored to individual preferences, from music and art to reading and conversation. With flexible scheduling and comprehensive online training, you can contribute your time and compassion to enhance the quality of life for seniors. Become part of a mission-driven organization that values and empowers volunteers to make a difference in their community.
Join NALTCV, where we train volunteers to be companions for residents in long-term care communities. Shockingly, over half of them never receive a visit, battling loneliness daily.
As a Companion, your role is simple but profound. You befriend residents, build meaningful relationships, and create personalized activities limited only by your imagination. It could be music, art, sports, reading, or just a friendly chat tailored to their preferences.
Collaboration is key. Work as a "team player" alongside professional care staff. Your role is to assist, not criticize. You'll likely partner with an activity professional, who plans activities and identifies those in need of a visit.

The National Association of Long-Term Care Volunteers (NALTCV) is a not-for-profit organization that provides training for people who volunteer in a long-term care community. In addition, the NALTCV will seek out and promote resources and programs that support the people living in long-term care communities. Many long-term care communities do not have the staff or resources to train the people that are volunteering in their community. The NALTCV will work to develop and make widely available a training package for people wanting to volunteer using input provided by professionals working in the field of long-term care. In addition to providing training for volunteers, the NALTCV will develop and make available resources for the people managing volunteers in their communities, including recruiting materials, webinars, and in-person classes.
Our Vision
The National Association of Long-Term Care Volunteers (NALTCV) is recognized and embraced by long-term care providers as a valuable resource for increasing community awareness and engagement through well-trained, credentialed volunteers who go on to provide meaningful support for and collaborate with professional care staff to improve the quality of life for the people living and working in long-term care communities.
